The Chalet on the left is the standard Chalet

The Chalet on the right has a second roof to keep the nest box cooler and dryer.  Inquire about this excellent optional feature that makes a huge difference in the comfort of the birds in hot and wet weather, and, that helps the nest box last longer. The predator guard was removed to help the Red-Headed Woodpecker access the bird house where it raised two young birds. (Click on the picture for a great look at this handsome bird that is declining about ten percent each year throughout most of its range)
